Aaaarrrrgggghhh me hearties!
I had so much fun making these!
Not only because these were for my friend Fiona’s 30th birthday party but because this was my first OFFICIAL order! I’m open for business!!! Woo Hoo!!
I made the skull and crossbones from a silicone mould, if I’d had more time I would have given him a patch with some royal icing:
The map was made by rolling up some beige sugarpaste, very roughly and drawing on the directions to the buried treasure with food pens:
The Jolly Roger was made with a stencil and some white royal icing on black sugarpaste and then cut out again very roughly and the side of the flag was “ripped” with a craft knife. (I love this theme as you don’t have to be too careful because the disheveled look is what you’re after!!):
And finally the treasure chests. I formed the shape by hand from brown sugarpaste and added some balls of white sugarpaste that I painted with a gold luster dust. These are not my favourite out of these as they didn’t quite turn out as I was expecting. (As Mr. Young put it “they look like tacos”!!):
What do you think?
